Science World

Science WorldScience World is one of British Columbia's most popular educational family attractions with attendance of more than half a million visitors every year (including 60,000 children on school field trips). An additional 150,000 people enjoy its provincial outreach programs annually. Exhibitions such as Star Trek Federation Science, Backyard Monsters: The World of Insects and The Return of the Dinosaurs captivated the imaginations of thousands, as did the Omnimax films Blue Planet, Beavers and Antarctica.

Science World is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are easily accessible from both Highway 99 (from Washington State) and the Trans-Canada Highway (from other parts of BC and Canada). We are five minutes from downtown Vancouver and are easily accessible via public transit as the Main Street/Science World SkyTrain Station is located just across the street from us. If you're spending the day on False Creek, you may want to visit us by ferry. Both the Aquabus and False Creek Ferries make stops next to Science World.

A nice addition to Vancouver's waterfront, this science museum sports a geodesic dome which lights up at night. The dome is made from 766 aluminum triangles covered with vinyl yielding a volume of 36,790 cubic meters. It was originally the Expo Centre during "Expo ‘86" but has now found new life as an Omnimax theater.

Today, it is a top family destination, offering educational, entertaining and interactive exhibits. Three main galleries explore the areas of biology, physics and music. A 3-D laser show presents fun images. The biggest attraction is the OMNIMAX Theatre, which features science and nature films on one of the world's largest dome screens.  The Omnimax theatre holds 401 people.
