A landmark hotel in the historic Garden District of New Orleans,
Pontchartrain is located two miles from the French Quarter and approximately 16
miles from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Named in honor of
Count de Pontchartrain from the court of Louis XVI, Pontchartrain Hotel first
opened in March of 1927. It is an imposing structure with a brick facade and
architectural style. The streetcar to the French Quarter and area attractions
stops directly in front of the Pontchartrain. Hotel amenities include the Pontchartrain Cafe and Bayou Bar's weekend music and menu with Creole and Cajun specialties. The hotel also offers valet parking (18 per day), a business center, and turndown service. Room service is currently unavailable, but guests can order carry-out from the hotel's restaurants. Pets are accepted at a fee of 50. All rooms feature cable TV, tea and coffee facilities, irons and ironing boards, and hairdryers.
