Catalina IslandAlthough we're located just 22 miles off the Southern California coast, it usually feels like we're a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Our air is smog-free, our bay has the clearest water of any harbor in the country, and there's not one traffic light on the whole island! From our "city" of Avalon (population 3,500) to the country village of Two Harbors (population 150), Catalina Island resembles the California of 50 years ago - undeveloped and unspoiled! Catalina Island really is another world!

By sea or by air, getting to Catalina is easy, it’s fun and it’s affordable. Only an hour by boat or 15 minutes by helicopter, there have never been more ways to travel to this island paradise. And once you arrive, the options continue. Only one square mile in size, the town of Avalon is easy to navigate on foot, and the picturesque harbor that Avalon is nestled around provides a good excuse to slow down and enjoy the view. There are also taxis, shuttle busses, bicycles, and our famous golf carts—you’ll love the flexibility of getting around Catalina Island.

On Catalina Island, you can do everything… or nothing at all.
For some it’s scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, or frolicking in crystal-clear waters. For others, it’s horseback riding, world-class golf, para-sailing or exploring charming shops and galleries. And then there are those who prefer to do nothing but relax on the beach. Whatever your passion, the Island of Romance will entrance you.

Whether you are looking for a great place to have dinner or a fun spot to dance the night away, Catalina Island has it all! Fish and chips? Mouth-watering shrimp, steaks, lobster, Mexican or pizza? Live music and cocktails while you catch up with old friends (or meet new ones)?
Avalon features more than 30 dining experiences, all beautifully situated against a harbor backdrop. From casual to tastefully romantic, you can dine to your heart’s content on Catalina Island.

METROPOLE MARKET PLACE The most entertaining place to browse, shop, & dine. Over 25 specialty shops and restaurants. Featuring unique apparel, gifts, and culinary wonders. Ocean front at Metropole Steet. Open daily.
