The refined Wentworth Mansion is located
approximately four blocks from the waterfront, a 15-minute walk from
Battery Park, and a 10-minute walk from the antique stores on King
Street. Built in 1886 and designed in the Second Empire style as an
opulent private residence for wealthy cotton merchant Francis Silas
Rodgers, the Wentworth Mansion is now one of Charleston's finest inns.
A pristine example of America's Gilded Age, the mansion boasts intricate
woodwork, hand-carved marble fireplaces, ornate plaster ceilings and
Tiffany stained glass windows. Each room has been restored and furnished
with antiques. All rooms have king size beds and whirlpools and most
have working gas fireplaces. All bedrooms are smoke-free. Afternoons
welcome guests in the Harleston Parlor, the Rodgers Library provides the
perfect atmosphere for reading and the sun porch offers an elegant spot
for breakfast. Complimentary wireless internet access is available.
The hotel can arrange for a pedicab to carry guests throughout the city.
Parking is available at no cost. |
