The Baltimore Orioles (nicknamed The O's and The Birds) are a Major League Baseball team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are in the Eastern Division of the American League.

In 1992, with grand ceremony, the Orioles began their season in a brand new ballpark, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and thus retiring Memorial Stadium in the major league baseball world.

The stadium's unique 1920s design provides its visitors with the classic charm of baseball. A complete 75-minute tour of the facilities is available and departs regularly from the baseball store located near the stadium. Unless they are bought ahead of time, getting tickets for seated sections can be difficult. So make sure to buy your tickets in advance. However, if you don't have tickets and would still like to attend a game, 200 bleacher seats and 400 standing room only tickets go on sale two hours before the game. The park features a souvenir shop, a cafeteria, lounge, restaurant, and a bar. Historically Baltimore has been a city known for the excitement of its baseball games. So, while in Baltimore take the family out to see a game, or take a tour of the Orioles Hall of Fame.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the beautiful baseball-only facility in Downtown Baltimore, became the official home of the Orioles on April 6, 1992. The construction of the park was completed in essentially 33 months from the time razing previous structures on the 85-acre parcel began June 28, '89, in the area known as Camden Yards.

The one-time railroad center is 12 minutes west by foot from the City's Inner Harbor and only 2 blocks from the birthplace of baseball's most legendary hero, George Herman "Babe" Ruth. Ruth's father operated Ruth's Cafe on the ground floor of the family residence located at Conway Street and Little Paca, now center field at Oriole Park. The ballpark seats 48,876 (including standing room) and the project cost was approximately $110 million.

Oriole Park is state-of-the-art yet unique, traditional and intimate in design. It blends with the urban context of downtown Baltimore while taking its image from baseball parks built in the early 20th century. Steel, rather than concrete trusses, an arched brick facade, a sun roof over the gentle slope of the upper deck, an asymmetrical playing field, and natural grass turf are just some of the features that tie it to those magnificent big league ballparks built in the early 1900's.
