Banff and the surrounding Banff National Park are among the most popular summer vacation destinations in North America, with resplendent mountain vistas under the Alberta blue sky. Our climate also offers:

Low humidity during the months of July and August

Warm temperatures averaging between 21º and 22º Celsius
(70º and 72º F)

Extended daylight hours: beyond 11 p.m. at the summer solstice
All of these factors add up to perfect conditions for summer activities. Some of our visitors' favourite summer attractions include:

Hiking
Camping
Fishing
Biking - Mountain Biking and Touring
Golfing
Tennis
Swimming
Canoeing and Kayaking
White-water Rafting and Float Trips
Boat Tours
Scuba Diving
Carriage Rides
Horseback Riding
Airplane and Helicopter Sightseeing

A word of advice for visitors: the UV rating in Banff National Park tends to be high. Between the altitude and the angle of sun in this area, people burn easily: sunscreen, sunglasses and a good wide-brimmed sun hat are must haves for your visit.

Banff and Lake Louise feature a wide range of choices when it comes to hotels and motels, ranging from four-star resorts to basic accommodations.

In Banff, most of the hotels and motels are located centrally near the town's core, though there are several options which are further removed from the town's bustle.

In Lake Louise, most hotels are located either in the hamlet itself, or else in the vicinity of Lake Louise itself, just a short drive up from the village.

Hotels and motels generally provide sleeping accommodations on a room/suite basis and feature a front desk for customer service. Rooms have a private bath and/or shower. Many hotels have additional facilities like a pool, exercise room or sauna.
